My Music Listening Journal 2021: Day 66: Sunday March 7, 2021.

Mostly cream album cover with black-and-white image of tall, bearded gentleman holding a snow globe in front of a blonde, cape-wearing woman. In the top right-hand corner, it is captioned "FLEETWOOD MAC" and "RUMOURS" below it.
  • FLEETWOOD MAC: RUMOURS: 1977: 5+ STARS OUT OF 5 STARS: IPOD: POP: The pop album of the second half of the 1970s- there were four hit singles off of the album all of which made the Top 10 -but it seemed like they were all hits- Fleetwood Mac was all over the radio. Three songwriters- Buckingham/ McVie and Nicks at the top of their game.
Baseball: A Film By Ken Burns - Original Soundtrack Recording
  • BASEBALL: A FILM BY KEN BURNS: SOUNDTRACK: 1994: 4 1/2 STARS OUT OF 5 STARS: IPOD: POP: Over the last ten days I’ve re-watched the Ken Burns Baseball series from 1994 over again. Thought I’d listen to the soundtrack too. I have a number of baseball CD’s -and while there are a few I prefer over this one- this isn’t bad. Features a lot of the music from the series of course. I’ve had baseball on my mind the past few weeks with re-watching this series, preparing for my baseball fantasy league drafts in a couple weeks and reading a couple baseball books. Opening Day is April 1st.

  1. While it’s fair to say songs like “Dreams”, “Don’t Stop” and “Go Your Own Way” have been heavily exposed, they are really well crafted tunes, making them pretty timeless.

Over the past couple of years, I‘ve also come to appreciate Fleetwood Mac’s early blues phase and their transitional years leading up to the classical period.

With all that being said, Rumours remains my favorite Mac album. Blame it on my “pop ear”!😀

  2. Yep, despite all the radio play through the years, I think ‘Rumours’ deserves its place among the top 10 or so selling albums ever. It’s on my personal op 10 list I think.
Now the Burns one is a surprise… I can certainly see the appeal of watching it, but wouldn’t have known it was even out as a soundtrack. Is it instrumental or songs ABOUT baseball?

    • The soundtrack has a lot of instrumental stuff from the series- and some baseball songs and some audio clips… i really like the CD’s that are full of various baseball songs…
