I hate the f’in Eagles and of all their hits this may be the one I hate the most. Their 5th and final #1- the lead off single on The Long Run album their worst album. That’s all I have to say about that.
One of the worst number ones ever I reckon.
Don’t sugar coat it…tell us how you really feel! lol
Yea this is not exactly Desperado by any stretch of the imagination.
this sounds like something that was thrown together haphazardly and released as an inside joke ‘ people are stupid it’ll go to #1’
It was all in the brand
that wasn’t a very good album- even for The Eagles-I think they knew it was the end of the line- until the touring a dozen years later..
No the songs weren’t there to begin with and they polished the soul out of what they had.
The one song I like is In The City for obvious reasons and it’s not one of Joe’s best.
Joe’s song was the best on the album. No doubt.
I Can’t Tell You Why is the standout IMO. Take away that, In The City, and the title track, and the rest is pretty useless.
Since it’s their final #1, I’ll admit now that I love The f’ing Eagles… By this point though, yeah, they weren’t hitting the same heights. ‘The Long Run’ is a better song imo.
This irritating song comes up in rotation on the radio far too often.
I liked the Eagles well enough, but never cared for this song either.
