American Top 40- The 70’s- Week Of February 3, 1979. Pretty good week- while disco was still ruling the #1 chart in the first eight months of the year- it wasn’t dominating the chart like it had in 1977-78. Odd week in I am giving A+ grades to a member of Kiss and Kenny Rogers but a great tune is a great tune. Worst song of course is the Rod Stewart nightmare. They should kick his ass out of the Hall of Fame for that one or at least make him run a few laps. Not to be critical or anything.

  1. about 50/50 known/unknown. I remember how wonderful and wise I thought “The Gambler” was at the time. I also love “Take Me to the River” but had no idea it was a remake of an Al Green song at the time (which is also really good!)

  2. Everyone’s A Winner is one of the lost seventies songs…that wonderful guitar riff and sound.

“Not to be critical or anything” oh that made my day.
