Deep Cuts From 1971- “The Wind”- Cat Stevens. I kind of assumed that “The Wind” by Cat Stevens was a hit single- but it wasn’t even released as a single. Cat Stevens did have three Top 40 hits from his 1971 Teaser And The Firecat album- Cat Stevens fifth album which peaked at #2 in the US Top 200 Album chart- “Wild World” #11, “Moonshadow” #30 and “Peace Train” #7. “The Wind” one of Cat’s introspective songs was the lead off track on the album. The song was used in two films that I really enjoy – Almost Famous and Rushmore.
Amazing this one was never released as a single. Cat is a masterful songwriter!
he couldn’t miss in the early 70’s.
I like the next song on that album also:
I like that one a lot as well, Lisa. In fact, reading all of this makes me want to listen to the entire album again! š

I l.o.v.e. that song – so beautiful! And, you’re right, this tune would have been a great single.
CB likes the Cat.
Cat Stevens may be the best singer-songwriter that came from the 70s. His songs are relevant to this day. Tea For The Tillerman is a masterpiece.
