I will say this for KC and The Sunshine Band- when they had a hit it was usually a big hit on the charts. At this point they had a total of 5 Top 40 singles and 4 of them had gone to #1. The song was about a Miami, Florida DJ named Robert W. Walker who was the first DJ to give “Get Down Tonight” airplay. I guess as much as this song could be about anything- a six year old could write better lyrics- no one every compared Harry Wayne Casey to Leonard Cohen. I’d rather listen to The Eagles than this crap. Note- Apparently mathematics was not a strong point with Harry Wayne either- this was their 4th album and it was called Part 3.
