This was first a hit back in 1953 for Les Paul and Mary Ford. 1969 and 1970 were good years for Elvis- his career started to move again after the Christmas special in 1968. He would have success after 1970 but it would become more spotty. In 1969 and in 1970 he had 5 Top 40 hits in each year.
