The Beatles Top 60 Solo Songs: #37: “Oh My My”- Ringo Starr. Ringo surprised everyone in the early 1970’s with a string of big hits- as far as singles go he was as successful as any of The Beatles in the first few years after the break-up. “Oh My My” was the third single off of Ringo’s finest album Ringo in 1973- it went to #5 on the Billboard Singles Chart. The two previous singles from the album “Photograph” and “You’re Sixteen” both went to #1. “Oh My My” was written by Richard Starkey [Ringo} and Vini Poncia. Billy Preston plays keyboards on the song and Martha Reeves provided back-up vocals.
I didn’t buy it but somehow I had this single at home. One of my favorites from Ringo. It’s the one I don’t hear as much of….
“Photograph” is an excellent song. In fact, I don’t mind the album at all. But “Oh My My” really is a stinker. Sorry, that’s not very generous.
“Oh My My” is a novelty song that will doubtless appeal to many.
There is no reason to apologize for not liking a song! LOL…
