While The Beatles covered six songs on their first two albums- Please Please Me and With The Beatles- their third album, A Hard Day’s Night was an album of all originals. As the Christmas season approached in 1964 the record company wanted more product and the boys couldn’t write songs fast enough. Six of the fourteen tracks on Beatles For Sale are covers.
