Melanie Safka was born in 1947 in Queens, New York City, New York. She is a folk pop singer-songwriter. From 1970-73 she had 9 Hot 100 singles with 6 making the Top 40- her biggest hit- went to #1- 1971’s “Brand New Key.”

She does a good job on this. She has a lot of feeling in her voice.
One of the few covers I love as much or more than the original.
I like how she made it her own. That being said, I still prefer the original by the Stones, which I’ve always really dug.
I like her version also- but you can’t improve on The Stones.
