- All but two of the 44 aboard a U.S. Air Force Fairchild C-123K Provider transport were killed when the airplane struck a 2700 foot ridge in a jungle during a flight from Phan Rang to the Cam ranh Airport. It was the third incident in three two days involving a U.S. military airplane.
