Carlos Santana as born in 1947 in Mexico. The Latin- rock guitarist formed Santana in San Francisco. From 1969-2007 Santana had 25 Hot 100 Singles with 15 making the Top 40. Santana’s biggest hits came later on “Smooth” in 1999 and “Maria, Maria”- in 2000. Santana was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998. “Black Magic Woman” was written by Peter Green of Fleetwood Mac and first released as a single by Fleetwood Mac back in 1968. Peter Green a noted guitarist died in July at the age of 73.
I’ve always loved Santana’s version of the song. Not only was this one of the very first Santana songs I ever heard, but I knew it long before I listened to Peter Green’s excellent original.
A song I never get tired of.
