Androwis Jovakim was born in Montreal in 1956- He co-wrote “Sugar, Sugar”- his biggest hit as a solo artist was a #1 in 1974 ” Rock Me Gently” This is re-make of The Ronettes #2 hit from 1963.
Guys can’t help but song this. Even John Lennon had a version of it.
His cover falls flat, and does no justice to the original. In these cases, it begs the question ‘why bother?’
There seem to have been a lot of odd covers in this era- as in -why? especially when you are taking on a big hit— unless you have your own unique take on the song which stands out– this one certainly doesn’t.
