Little Richard’s greatness can’t be measured by his action on the singles chart- the immortal rock and roll pioneer had 21 Hot 100 singles with only 9 making the Top 40 from 1958-86- but Richard Penniman’s influence on rock and roll was vast- from The Beatles to Prince and many artists in between. Little Richard died this May at the age of 87.
