A September of Demento- Over the years the artist Dr. Demento has played the most no doubt is Weird Al Yankovic- Weird Al has been the rare artist who has been able to make a career of doing song parody’s. My favorite of his is his parody of “Gangsta’s Paradise” by Coolio- “Amish Paradise.”- from 1996. Can’t believe that has been 24 years…

  1. I have a Weird Al story: in 1986-87 I worked as a city planner for the City of West Hollywood. One afternoon, as I walked from the office to my car to leave for the day, I saw Weird Al get out of his car in front of a house across the alley from city hall. I believe the house belonged to an agent or someone in the entertainment business, judging from the sign on the door. I yelled out “Hey Weird Al”, to which he replied “Yeah!” in a friendly manner. He seemed like a cool guy.

    • enjoyed your story- one year for some strange reason- Weird Al was a participant at a county music festival they held in the area- Jamboree In The Hills– a co-worker told me [this happened maybe ten years ago} that he was working at the time in a local restaurant- Weird Al came in- was a really nice guy- left a huge tip and signed autographs for all the workers before leaving- was a really nice fella according to my friend.
