Eddie Kendricks had quit The Temptations two years earlier. As a solo artist he wasn’t having much chart success until “Keep On Truckin’ took off and went to #1- his next single ‘Boogie Down” would go to #2. The Temptations had a tragic legacy- Kendricks would die at the age of 52 in 1992 of lung cancer. Kendricks name still lives on the charts- Kendrick Lamar’s mother named her son after Kendricks.
