How was this great song not a big hit? Joni like many great artists were great because they did their own thing- not following the latest trends. Born Roberta Joan Anderson in 1943- in Fort McLeod, Alberta, Canada. Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1997. From 1970-85 she had 10 Hot 100 singles with 4 making the Top 40. He biggest hit was “Help Me” #7 in 1974.

  1. Did the other version undercut this one? I didn’t know if they waited until later or at the same time as was the practice in those days. Both were in 1970 I believe.

  2. I don’t remember who did the cover of the song? “Paved paradise and put up a parking lot” has become part of my lexicon as it fits so many situations where “development” takes precedence over any and everything. I know that there were two versions of B side and forgot who did the cover version. Unreal that neither of these hit it big as they are part of the fabric of our musical culture!
