Hans Remembers- Tuesday August 18, 1970- 50 Years Ago.
- The United States disposed of 418 containers of nerve gas by loading it onto the retired U.S. Navy ship SS LeBaron Russell Briggs- and then sinking the ship into the Atlantic Ocean’s waters 3 miles deep at an American munitions dump 283 miles east of Florida.

- Born on this day in Jersey City, New Jersey- Malcolm-Jamal Warner- -aka Theo Huxtable on The Cosby Show.

- Former Detroit Tiger outfielder Bobby Higginson born 50 years ago today. Higginson was a pretty good hitter on some awful Tiger teams in the 90’s-00’s. He hit 187 home runs and a lifetime .272 batting average from 1995-2005- all spent with the Tigers.
Is it possible that nerve gas is still in its containers in the ship? I hope they have that part of the ocean well-guarded?
I have no idea.. isn’t it something using the ocean as a dumping ground…
All I can do is shake my head, Hans. The oceans cover so much of our surface, yet we treat it so disrespectfully.
The Earth as a garbage dump.
What of the Pacific, with all the radiated cooling water from Japan. You know – from fucu (however you spell it)…
