HAPPY 80TH BIRTHDAY TO RICHIE STARKEY- AKA RINGO STARR/ RANKING RINGO’S HIT SINGLES

Ringo Starr has picked his favourite song by The Beatles

Happy Birthday #80 to Richard Starkey born 80 years ago today at 9 Madryn Street in Dingle- inner city Liverpool. Ringo Starr is terribly underrated as a drummer and I have always believed without Ringo’s all around contributions there would be no Beatles as we know them today.

Ringo as a solo artist- is still 50 years later releasing albums and touring. He had a tour schedule this summer before the COVID-19 took over. He has had 10 solo Top 40 hits in the United States- here they are ranked from 10-to 1. My Top 2 Ringo Starr singles I think are as good as any single by an Ex- Beatle.

  • 10. “A Dose Of Rock “N” Roll
  • 9. “Wrack My Brain”
  • 8. “You’re Sixteen”
  • 7. ” It’s All Down To Goodnight Vienna”
  • 6. “Only You”
  • 5. “No No Song”
  • 4. “Oh My My”
  • 3- ” Back Off Boogaloo”
  • 2- “Photograph”
  • 1- “It Don’t Come Easy”

  1. At least he doesn’t have to worry about if we will love him when he’s ’64’ anymore! Yes, not as talented as the other 3 Beatles but still a very good writer and musician and from all accounts (see All Starr Band and all those who took part) a really likable guy.

  2. Isn’t it just friggin’ unreal that Ringo has turned 80? He certainly doesn’t look like it. Plus, he still has his charm and the jokes, which rightfully make him one of the most beloved music artists. There’s absolutely no question The Beatles would not have been the same without Ringo! And, yes, while he’s no John Bonham or Ginger Baker, I agree Ringo is underrated as a drummer, though I think that’s mostly outside drummer circles. Among his peers, he’s actually very revered!
