Another monument succumbs to the demands of the ignorant and self-centered.
Or another perspective: ignorance and self-centeredness is what kept certain monuments up for so long.
I don’t think they should be destroyed; they should go into a museum. But maybe their day in the sun has come and gone. It was a good, long time after all.
