  1. Man, do I love that tune! And while I generally don’t listen to Mariah Carey, her cover of that tune on her “MTV Unplugged” album from 1992 is just incredible; in fact, I’d go as far as saying I like it even better than the original.

    • I take it you’re not exactly a fan of Mariah? 🙂

I generally don’t listen to her either but think she’s a great vocalist and really nailed that cover. I also dig the voice of Trey Lorenz who shared vocals with her on that version.

    • Not a fan- but she does a credible job on I’ll Be There. I tend not to care for vocalists with those kind of voices- they have a tendency to ‘show off” IMO. “Look at the voice I have.”

    • To be honest I couldn’t name one Christina Aguilera song. I am sure I have heard a few just being out and about….

    • I’m in the same boat and don’t listen to her music. The one song I know – and I’m sure you’ve heard it as well – is this ballad “Beautiful.”

From a strictly vocal perspective, I think Aguilera is incredible. In that regard, I would compare her to Mariah Carey.
