One of my favorite Van Morrison tracks- I didn’t know that it was covered by Johnny Rivers. Born John Ramistella in Brooklyn in 1942 and raised in Baton Rouge, Louisiana- Johnny Rivers -a rock and roll singer/ songwriter, guitarist and producer had 29 Hot 100 singles between 1964-77- with 17 making the Top 40- and 9 making the Top 10. His only #1 came in 1966 “Poor Side Of Town.”
What a great song. Thanks for posting. It brought back so happy memories.
I’m a big Johnny Rivers fan. He’s a great game-managing quarterback–and to me that’s a big compliment. Rivers is competent at all aspects of recording. He is the total package as an artist. Having said that, some songs just shouldn’t be covered. Into the Mystic is one of them. Still, he did a good job, I think, but he looks ridiculous on the cover. Ha!
Never heard this but I had to because Rivers does good covers. Not bad. I like it.
When I saw this- no way- but he did a good job on it.
I had the same thoughts.
