SONG OF THE DAY CHALLENGE-DAY 12- A SONG YOU WISH YOU COULD WITNESS LIVE: PART II: THE BEATLES AT THE CAVERN CLUB IN LIVERPOOL

A Look Back at the Beatles' Early Days at the Cavern Club

Song Of The Day Challenge Day 12- A Song You Wish You Could Witness Live- Part II- ‘The Beatles At The Cavern Club in Liverpool. The Cavern Club was located at 10 Mathew Street in Liverpool. The Beatles made their first appearance there on February 21, 1961- and their 292nd and final appearance came on August 3, 1963. If I could go back in time I would go back and see The Beatles playing there. The Cavern Club in Liverpool and The Beatles tours in Hamburg at the Indra, the  Kaiserkeller, the Top Ten club and The Star Club are where they honed their skills- and became the band that conquered the world. It would have been amazing to have seen them before their stardom.

  1. Boy, would that be cool if we could travel back in time and see The Beatles before they became famous. I recall reading somewhere that John Lennon in an interview sometime after their breakup said, the band’s early days pre-fame when they played true rock & roll were their best time. Their frequent gigs, especially during their time in Hamburg when they had multiple shows each day, were the perfect rehearsal for what was yet to come.

    • Yes I should have added that John Lennon quote. I would image as far as a live band that had to have been the best time because of the screaming that went on during the concerts during the Beatlemania period. I am envious of those who witnessed The Beatles at the Cavern or in Hamburg. What memories they must have.

    • That had to have been incredible. I’ve read so many accounts of what it was like and it makes me feel like I was there but to have actually been there and saw it all!

  2. I visited the Cavern Club on a cruise ship stop in Liverpool a few years ago. A very unpretentious ambience for such an iconic setting.
