Bobby “The Preacher” Womack who was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2009- was born in Cleveland, Ohio in 1944. An R&B singer-songwriter and guitarist- Womack toured with the great Sam Cooke and was a guitarist in sessions with Wilson Pickett, The Box Tops, Aretha Franklin, Janis Joplin and Joe Tex. He was at one time married to Sam Cooke’s widow Barbara. Womack’s brother Cecil would marry Sam’s daughter. Womack had 14 Hot 100 singles with 4 making the Top 40- his biggest hit being #10 “Lookin’ For A Love” 1974.
