My Music Listening Journal: Day 103/366: Sunday April 13, 2020.
- WINGS: WINGS GREATEST: 1978: 4 1/2 STARS OUT OF 5 STARS: VINYL ALBUM: A pretty good greatest hits album-coming from the vinyl era. 12 hits coming in at a shade below 55 minutes. There are better compilations out there now but for the limitations of the vinyl album- I was happy with it when it came out- and also pleased that included was one of my favorites- a single which was a huge hit in the United Kingdom but ignored in the United States- Mull Of Kintyre”- four of the twelve songs on here had previously been singles only- this being their first appearance on an album.
I used to own this on cassette. Listen to What the Man Said is an odd omission.
Yes- that was a #1.. odd. They probably could have had a double album Paul had loads of hits in that decade.
No Maybe I’m Amazed either. And Daytime Nighttime Suffering is one of my favourites from the decade for Paul, but it hadn’t been recorded yet and it was a b-side.
I begged my folks for this album, and received it in exchange for doing a bunch of clerical work (addressing letters by hand) for my dad’s motorcycle club. Still one of my fave compilation discs.
I would say it was worth the work! Again my only complaint not ENOUGH– but of course there was limited space on a vinyl album…
