- JOHN PRINE: AIMLESS LOVE: 1984: 3 1/2 STARS OUT OF 5 STARS: APPLE MUSIC: Working my way though the John Prine catalog. This was his first album on his own label- Oh Boy- and his first album in four years. Six of the ten songs were co-written with others. A low-key album full of good songs-with “Unwed Fathers” being the most acclaimed song- other favorites- “People Puttin’ People Down”- which was a Bob Dylan favorite, ‘Aimless Love”, “The Bottomless Lake.”

- JOHN PRINE: GERMAN AFTERNOONS: 1986: 3 1/2 STARS OUT OF 5 STARS: APPLE MUSIC: Similar to Aimless Love- another country flavored album- it has one classic John Prine song a song about his marriage which was was breaking up at that point “Speed Of The Sound Of Loneliness.” The album closes with a remaking of his classic “Paradise” from his debut album. The album got a Grammy nomination for Best Contemporary Folk Recording.
Kind of wondering if I need to dive into all of his stuff. I only know the 1970s stuff and Missing Years.
Ones I would highly recommend– John Prine / Sweet Revenge/ Bruised Orange/ The Missing Years/ Lost Dogs and Missed Blessings/ The Tree Of Forgiveness.
I know the first four, sounds like I need to hear the last two. I always hear about Lake Marie from Lost Dogs.
Lake Marie is a great tune.
I listen then gooves off ‘German Afternoons’
