- The first strike by U.S. postal workers came to an end after President Richard Milhous Nixon called out the U.S. military forces to sort and deliver the mail. During the eight day strike 35,000,000 packages, letters and postcards had accumulated in New York City alone.
- Xu Haidong a Chinese military officer and Senior General of the People’s Liberation Army died six months after being purged from the Chinese Communist Party and exiled during the Culture Revolution.

On the first story, it’s been 2 days now without any mail. I don’t I’ve ever gone 2 days without any mail. On the 2nd story, he looks like a kind man, what a waste of a good person.
