The Supremes went to #1 in late August with their first huge hit “Where Did Our Love Go”- two months later they go to #1 with the follow up “Baby Love.”- almost two months after that at the end of December they would have their 3rd #1 of 1964 with ‘Come See About Me.” 1964 a big year for The Beatles and The Supremes who together had 9 #1 hits- The Beatles six, The Supremes three. The Supremes with ‘Baby Love” became the first Motown act to have more than one #1 hit. In the end they would have a dozen. “Baby Love” was nominated for a Grammy for Best Rhythm and Blues Recording. Rolling Stone magazine ranked it at #324 on their 500 Greatest Songs ever list.
