Grand Funk Railroad- which became just plain Grand Funk in 1973- were a hard rock band from Flint, Michigan. At this point they had yet to crack the Top 40. In all they had 19 Hot 100 singles with 9 making the Top 40- and 2 #1’s 1973- “We’re An American Band” and 1974 the remake of Little Eva’s “The Loco-Motion.” They were extremely popular for a few years in the early 70’s- and then kind of faded from memory. I can’t think of the last time I heard a Grand Funk Railroad song on the radio. The group disbanded in 1976, reunited in 1981 before calling it quits again.
