Spirit had 4 Hot 100 hits with 1 making the Top 40- “I Got A Line On You” #25 1969. A rock band from Los Angeles- their singer later in the decade would have a big hit single with “Thunder Island.’ Mark Andes would become an original member of Firefall in 1975. Randy California -wasn’t his real name it was Randy Wolf. California a guitarist and vocalist for the band downed in the Pacific Ocean at the age of 45 while rescuing his 12 year old son from a rip current.

Spirit had been invited to play at the Woodstock concert but their manager/ producer Lou Adler opposed it because they were busy promoting their new album. Bad move.
