Alfred Cini aka Al Martino was born in Philadelphia. He had 34 Hot 100 singles on the Billboard chart from 1959-77. He had 12 top 40 hits. His biggest hit was “I Love You Because” #3 in 1963. Martino played Johnny Fontane in The Godfather. Martino died in 2009 at the age of 82.
“Can’t Help Falling In Love”- of course is best known by the Elvis version in 1961 which was a huge hit- going to #2 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States and #1 on the UK Singles Chart. Other appearances in the Billboard Hot 100- Andy Williams #88 in 1970, Corey Hart #24 in 1987, UB40 #1 in 1993 and Christina Grimmie #74 in 2014.
