  • Dying 50 years ago today- blues musician Slim Harpo-born James Moore in Louisiana in 1924. His most famous song “I’m A King Bee.” He got his name from the fact he was a great blues harmonica player. The Rolling Stones covered a song of Slim Harpo’s on their Exile On Main St. album- “Shake Your Hips.” Harpo died of a heart attack at the age of 46. He was known as one of the cleanest living blues musicians.  Below is Slim Harpo ‘s “I’m A King Bee”- for fans of the old Saturday Night Live- you may remember the late, great John Belushi dressed up as a bee- singing “I’m A King Bee.”

  1. Didn’t know Minnie Driver was English. Not real familiar with her work beyond Grosse Pointe Blank. I remember John B in the bee costume but dont remember him singing this song. Good song, not sure what that background sound is, vocals or guitar…

    • It seemed like years ago Minnie Driver was in a lot of movies- maybe I am not watching many movies in recent years but I don’t recall seeing much of her in the last decade or so.
