The late 60’s- early 70’s- Aretha’s first years on Atlantic Records- were her peak years both artistically and commercially. She would have four Top 40 hits in 1970. “Son Of A Preacher Man”- the b-side would get enough airplay that it was also included [as was the practice for a couple years in the early 70’s} on the charts. “Son Of A Preacher Man” was a big hit for Dusty Springfield in 1968- #10 on the charts. Aretha was the daughter of a preacher man- who got her start singing gospel music at his church in Detroit.
