Celtic Crush Sunday- “Las Vegas {In The Hills of Donegal}- Goats Don’t Shave. Goats Don’t Shave are an Irish folk rock band that was formed in Dungloe, County Donegal in 1990. In the past thirty years they have been an off and on again group-they released three albums from 1992- 1998 and then their 4th one after a sixteen year gap- in 2014. “Las Vegas {In The Hills Of Donegal} was a #4 hit single on the Irish charts in 1991- and was on their debut album The Rusty Razor in 1992. The songs title pretty much describes what the song is about- the desire to turn Donegal into a gambling mecca like Las Vegas is. A few well known folks are mentioned in the song-most notably Mike Tyson and POTUS #45 who was 25 years away from the presidency when this song was written. The song was written by Goats Don’t Shave frontman- singer-songwriter Pat Gallagher.

I think that is the only song of theirs that I’ve heard.. but i liked it from the first time i heard it. fun.

Just got distracted by the Franz Klammer posts here on your site… unfortunately they can’t be accessed due to IOC copyright so I went to Youtube and found one video the IOC hasn’t refused to allow people to watch and enjoy!
Thanks for the update- back when I posted it- that one was allowed not sure when they banned it. I am by no means a big fan of skiing but that would still rank 54 years into my sports fandom as one of the Top 10 most memorable sports moments. Every time I watch it I think he’s going to crash!
