- BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN: THE RIVER: 1980: ROCK. 5+ STARS OUT OF 5 STARS: VINYL: The only album I listened to today. {I did listen to the American Top 40 replay on The 70’s on 7 and last Sunday’s edition of Celtic Crush so it wasn’t like I only listened to this album today but I wasn’t feeling all that ambitious so…} After seeing Blinded By The Light yesterday I am still needing my fill of old Bruce. This double album is my second favorite Bruce behind Darkness On The Edge Of Town. An ambitious double album- it contains a little bit of all the styles that made him The Boss. This was also the first rock concert I ever went to- The River Tour- December 1, 1980 the Civic Arena in Pittsburgh. My favorite Bruce song ever is on this album- the title track “The River.” In the near future I am going to write my Bruce Story- inspired by Blinded By The Light.

Yes, that’s some album. How did you like the movie? I’m gathering it made quite the impression on you. It comes out here next Thursday. I’m looking forward to it. It’s got great reviews.

Another great album. He lightened up a little after ‘Darkness’ but still had some of those darker tunes i like. I might have to pull it out for a good listen.
