B-side “You’ve Got Too Many Ties That Bind.” The second of four Hot 100 singles in 1969 by Ike & Tina Turner- peaked at #98 and spent 2 weeks on the chart. None of their singles made the Top 40 that year. Grade: A-

250. “What Does It Take {To Win Your Love}- Jr. Walker and The All-Stars. Soul. Soul. Written by Johnny Bristol, Harvey Fuqua, and Vernon Bullock. B-side “Brainwasher Pt. 2.” The second of three Hot 100 hits for Jr. Walker and The All-Stars in 1969 was a big hit #4 and spent 16 weeks on the chart. Grade: A

251. “Israelites”- Desmond Dekker and The Aces. Uni. Reggae Pop. Written by Desmond Dekker and Leslie Kong. B-side “The Man.” The only Hot 100 hit for Desmond Dekker and The Aces- was one of the great one hit wonders- and hits of 1969- peaking at #9 and spending 10 weeks on the chart. It was the first #1 reggae hit in the UK and the first Top 10 reggae hit int he US of A. Grade: A+.

252. “Let Me”- Paul Revere and The Raiders featuring Mark Lindsay. Columbia. Pop Rock. Written by Mark Lindsay. B-side “I Don’t Know.. The 2nd of 3 Hot 100 hits in 1969 by Paul Revere and The Raiders- it peaked at #20 and spent 12 weeks in the Hot 100. Their biggest hit of the year had come earlier in the winter with “Mr. Sun. Mr. Moon” #18. Grade: B
Israelites was a strange/different and wonderful song. Haven’t heard it in so many years!
