The Sounds of Summer- Day 50 of 95: “All Summer Long”- Kid Rock. The first time I heard “All Summer Long” by Kid Rock- on a vacation back in 2008 I was confused- it sounded like a mix of Warren Zevon’s “Werewolves Of London” and Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Sweet Home Alabama”- and it turns out that is what it was. The mashup was suggested by record producer Mike E. Clark and Robert Ritchie aka Kid Rock [who at 48 is closer to Old Man Rock than a Kid Rock} went with the idea. Everyone got the proper songwriting credits- and the single went to #23 on the Hot 100- and even more surprisingly I guess went to #4 on the country chart.
In modern country, anything goes.
this is true- throw in the word beach or summer or party and you may have a big hit. oh and don’t have it sound too country. make it sound more like Kiss.
The whole key is not to sound too country…they want a southern rock Kiss hybrid.
Its odd how when some careers are stalling out in pop or rock how artists have turned more towards selling towards a country audience.
It’s an easy transition I guess because the line is so blurred now…Darius Rucker, Sheryl Crow, and more.
Don Henley’s last album was I believe aimed at country also.
Glad you brought him up… The Eagles played a part in this I believe…as far as the mixture of the two…willingly or unwillingly.
I am trying to think but can’t- there was someone who recently made a country album which was kind of shocking – an artist I never thought of as country in any way– can’t think of who though…
I’ve heard something about Steven Tyler doing one…I’m curious now.
Yes I think you hit it! Bingo! Steven Tyler is who I was searching my mind for!! Thanks!
When I think of Kid Rock, I think of the character he played in the movie Joe Dirt. Which means not much.
