It was fifty years ago today- the moon suit that would be worn by the Apollo 11 astronauts in July when the went to the moon was successfully tested by Apollo 9 astronaut Rusty Schweickart who tested the suit in the vacuum of outer space for the first time- he performed a spacewalk for 37 minutes proving it would be effective for the Apollo 11 astronauts to wear for an extended period on the Moon. Another step toward the ultimate goal of sending a man to the moon by the end of the decade.
The ultimate is test piloting!
