The Rolling Stones Song of the Day is– I’ve Been Loving You Too Long. It was written by Otis Redding and The Impressions Jerry Butler in a New York City hotel room. The song was written by those fellas and Otis recorded it almost immediately-and as a single reached #21 on the Billboard Hot 100. The Rolling Stones loved the Otis version and a month later recorded. Maybe they should have thought twice about it- or given it a little more time- in no way does The Rolling Stones version come close to Otis’s. The Rolling Stones version appeared on their first live album- Got Live If You Want It- although this was a studio track overdued with crowd noises.
