The Rolling Stones Song of the Day is Blue Turns To Grey. The ballad was written by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards and appears on the December’s Children [And Everybody’s} in the US in 1965. The song would be covered by Cliff Richard and The Shadows in 1966 and went to #15 on the UK singles chart. The Stones original version- is one of their underrated songs from this period. With so many great songs coming out by them at this point it was easy to overlook this gem. The song was covered first by Dick and Dee Dee and The Avengers before The Stones released their original. To them it must have been a throwaway- but it was more signs of the maturing songwriting team of Jagger-Richards.

  1. This track was on the compilation Stone Age. The first stones album i bought (bundled with get yer yayas for some reason) I sung this track into a cassette recorder when I was 11 years old…the first time I heard my own voice singing. Something of a special song for me then!
