ALBUMS

  • FRANK SINATRA: SHE SHOT ME DOWN: 1981: 5 STARS OUT OF 5 STARS: Considered by most to be Sinatra’s last great album- an album of saloon songs. A dark and brooding album. Sinatra sounds great here. He should have just done concerts from here on out.

  • FRANK SINATRA: SEPTEMBER IN MY YEARS: 1965: 5 STARS OUT OF 5 STARS: Sinatra was 50 in 1965. A big deal was made about it- 50 at that time was considered older than 50 is today. September In My Years is one of this best albums in this Reprise years. This album is a concept album of a man entering middle age. This was one of the first Sinatra albums I owned- when I was 20 or so- at the time I recognized that the album was indeed a great one- but didn’t appreciate it was much as I do now that I am older.

  • CROWDED HOUSE: TIME ON EARTH: 2007: 4 1/2 STARS OUT OF 5 STARS: After a 14 year hiatus from the studio-in 2007 Crowded House released their 5th album. Drummer Paul Hester had taken his life in 2005. Not that the album is themed on that but it seems like as one critic noted’ his passing seems to color every line.” Favorite songs on this album- Don’t Stop Now, She Called Up, Nobody Wants To, Silent House.

also listened to hour two of  this weeks- The Neon Beat on Radio George.

  1. She Shot Me Down is excellent but I am happy Sinatra kept recording. L.A. Is My Lady holds up well for me, especially, Teach Me To-night, The Best of Everything and a couple others. But it is also a sentimental favorite as it was the first new Sinatra LP I had ever purchased.
