The Rolling Stones Song of the Day is Time Is On My Side. The song was written by Jerry Ragovoy and the first version of the song by the Gospelaires failed to chart-{the Gospelaires were Dionne and Dee Dee Warwick and Cissy Houston} in 1963. The first successful hit version was by Irma Thomas and then by The Rolling Stones – it reached #6 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1964. It was The Rolling Stones first Top 10 hit in the US. It wasn’t released as a single in the UK. It was on The Rolling Stones No. 2 album. I had long assumed that it was an original song- The Stones surely make the song their own. The Rolling Stones would perform Time Is On My Side during their first appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show.
My favorite version is the one off of their 81 tour. Great song
Still life? Yes, good version.
Yes…thank you…I couldn’t think of it. Same album as Going for a Go-Go
Exactly, think they kicked off with under my thumb.
I had the concert film at one time… Let’s Spend The Night Together… by Hal Ashby. Been forever since I saw that.
That’s the one! I had the exact same. Think it would hold up… It’s a good concert. Preferred it to that double album ‘love you live’
I do also…I thought Love You Live sounded really thin.
I love the rockabilly vibe to this song. Good early Stones stuff.
Always liked this… Think Keith Richards did it justice love with the expensive winos
Love this song.
