The Rolling Stones Song of the Day is Confessin’ The Blues- from their 5X5 EP released in 1964. The song was written by Kansas City swing jazz pianist and singer Jay McSwann and Walter Brown. The original was recorded way back in April of 1941. The song would later be covered by Chuck Berry and the great bluesman Little Walter in the 1950’s. The Rolling Stones version is a blues number in the Little Walter mode. Keith’s lead guitar and Mick on harmonica stand out. Recorded at Chess Studio in Chicago.
I must be really old if I remember this!
It is hard to believe this is nearly 55 years ago..
SHHHHH!!! Don’t tell anyone, cos that would make me REALLY REALLY old!!!
I won’t say a word!
Good song good video.
I’ve always given short shrift to the early Stones material. I might be coming around.
The early stuff- 1964-66 underplayed. I think that is why I like Between The Buttons so much.
