The Rolling Stones Song of the Day is Little By Little. Little By Little was on The Rolling Stones self-titled debut album. It was written by Nanker Phelge[ The Rolling Stones} and the legendary and more than famous- he was in-famous- producer Phil Spector. Spector and Gene Pitney were in London and hanging out with the Stones as they were in the studio. Stones manager Andrew Oldman convinced them to help them -they were in need of a b-side for their upcoming single “Not Fade Away” and Phil and Mick knocked this one off quickly. Gene Pitney played piano, Phil Spector percussion and Graham Nash and Allan Clarke of The Hollies also participated. At this point in their career The Rolling Stones were still relying on covers- their originals still needed some work. This one isn’t bad but not one of the albums highlights. It would be the b-side to the single- the cover of Buddy Holly’s “Not Fade Away.”  Not Fade Away would go to #3 on the UK singles charts- their first big smash.
