The Rolling Stones Song of the Day is I Want To Be Loved. I Want To Be Loved was the b-side of the first ever Stones single- Come On. I Want To Be Loved was written by the great blues songwriter Willie Dixon. The song had been earlier performed by the legendary Muddy Waters. This song was more in tune with where The Rolling Stones were at that point in time, the group of course took their name from a Muddy Waters song “Rollin’ Stone.” The Rolling Stones version of the song is more upbeat and the group sounds more in their element playing one of their heroes songs. Brian Jones harmonica and Jagger’s vocals stand out on this song to me. I Want To Be Loved can be found on the complication More Hot Rocks {Big Hits and Fazed Cookies.}
my soul on fire
Your voice is like an angels above
The touch of your hand drives me insane
But baby, I want to be loved
I cherish the way you hug (me)
Your kiss is so sweet, honey, it can’t be beat
But baby, I want to be loved
You don’t come at all, or you’re mighty late
I ask you to dance, (take) a little spin
You say “Wait a minute, daddy,
here comes my friend”
Even when you try to snub (me)
You kill (kiss) me, baby when
you give me the eye
But baby, I want to be loved
I like these old Stones songs that have been forgotten…by the group themselves.
