It was fifty years ago today- October 14, 1968 at the Mexico City Olympics- American sprinter Jim Hines wins the Gold Medal in the 100 metres  and in the process becomes the first man to ever run the the race in under 10 seconds finishing with a time of 9.95 seconds.  Jim Hines- USA the Gold, Lennox Miller -Jamaica the Silver, Charlie Greene-USA Bronze.
