It was fifty years ago today- October 1, 1968- Night Of The Living Dead which was filmed in the Pittsburgh area premiers at the Fulton Theater in downtown Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania with an 8pm showing. It was admission by invitation only. The movie which was written, directed, photographed and edited by George Romero was originally going to be titled- “Night Of The Flesh Eaters.”
The movie was made on a $114,000 budget. It earned over 250 times its budget and is today considered by most experts a classic. There have been five sequels all by Romero. The movie is 96 minutes long, shot in black and white. All the actors were unknown actors. There have been remakes but the one to see is this one- the original.
