Paul wrote the melody when he was 15 years old on the piano at the McCartney home on Forthlin Road, Liverpool. At that time Paul looked at the tune as being written out of respect for the music of the twenties and thirties. At the time of Sgt.Pepper, Paul dusted the tune off and with his father in mind wrote the song. Jim McCartney was 64 at the time.
