Fifty years ago today- June 8, 1968 Senator Robert F. Kennedy’s funeral mass was held at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York City. The 10 AM service was attended by 2000 people including President Lyndon B. Johnson and Dr. Martin Luther King’s widow Coretta Scott King. Thousands listened to the service outside from loud speakers. The eulogy was given by Senator Ted Kennedy, one of his finest moments.
I wonder what was going through the mind of President Johnson as he sat through the service- Robert Kennedy and Johnson had one of the most notorious feud’s in American political history. They didn’t dislike one another -they hated one another.
below is Ted Kennedy’s moving eulogy.
