The Beatles Song Of The Day is “Kansas City/Hey-Hey-Hey-Hey!” “Kansas City/Hey-Hey-Hey-Hey!” appears on the album “Beatles For Sale.” The song was written by Jerry Leiber, Mike Stoller and Richard Penniman aka Little Richard. The original version was called “K.C. Loving” by Little Willie Littlefield. The Beatles styled their version after Little Richard’s version. Little Richard recorded the two songs together as a medley in 1959. The Beatles toured with Little Richard in the early 1960’s and saw Little Richard perform this in concert. Tony Sheridan and the Beat Brothers [The Beatles} recorded it in May 1961 in Hamburg, Germany. The Beatles had the song on their set list for concerts in 1961-62. Another great classic rock & roll cover by The Beatles, and my kind of music to get me going in the morning! It’s quite remarkable how many great rock & roll tunes have been penned by Leiber and Stoller.
There should be a box set of the songs of Leiber and Stoller. Maybe there is.
