ALBUMS

RSSF71.jpg

  • THE ROLLING STONES: STICKY FINGERS: 1971: 5 STARS OUT OF 5 STARS: CD: I listened to Sticky Fingers yesterday but I was in the mood to listen to it again this morning when I woke up- so I did! One of The Rolling Stones four greatest albums ever.

  • STEVE EARLE: EXIT 0: 1987: 5 STARS OUT OF 5 STARS: CD: Earle’s sophomore album came a little over a year after his debut. At this time he would have still been considered a country artist but that would soon change with his third album Copperhead Road. Earle received two Grammy nominations for this album. Best songs- Nowhere Road, No.29, The Rain Came Down, San Antonio Girl, I Ain’t Ever Satisfied, Angry Young Man. Steve is one of my favorites- on my Mount Rushmore.

  • LEONARD COHEN: THE FUTURE: 1992: 4 1/2 STARS OUT OF 5 STARS: CD: Leonard Cohen’s 9th album- it would be the last album he’d release in the 20th century- his tenth album wouldn’t arrive until 2001. I have been known to complain about songs that are too long- and of the nine songs on this album only one comes in under 5:57- but it’s Leonard Cohen and for some reason these songs- although they are long- {the 9 songs clock in just under an hour in length} they don’t seem long. Leonard Cohen is my voice for the apocalypse. Some don’t care for his voice but I think it is one of those rare voices that seemed to have gotten better with age. Favorite songs on this- The Future, Anthem, Democracy and Waiting For A Miracle. “There is a crack in everything, that’s how the light gets in.”

  1. No Pink Floyd?😀

Hey, who can blame you for spinning “Sticky Fingers” twice!

BTW, have you ever listened to “Sticky Fingers Live At The Fonda Theatre?” The Stones were incredible during that gig – everything sounded so fresh and powerful. You can also find awesome clips from that show on YouTube. A while ago, I posted a clip of “Can You Hear Me Knocking” – really blows your socks off!

    • You know I almost did play Pink Floyd Animals!… will look for the live at Fonda Theater I haven’t heard it..

    • I know Pink Floyd fanatics -and it seems like you are at least have a borderline addiction– I just don’t get them- too close to prog rock for me. I have tried to like them – and I can’t say I hate them– I hate YES and RUSH for example but I just can’t get fanatical about Pink Floyd- do I like some of their songs- I confess I do- but overall not a big fan.

    • Ha, that’s quite alright. The world would be a boring place if we all liked the same music. Besides, we seem to agree on The Beatles – there’s the Fab Four and then there’s everybody else, even Pink Floyd!😜
